10 Years of Skincare Innovation

Balance Me champions innovation by sourcing cutting-edge natural ingredients and creating unique, high performance products that push the boundaries of natural beauty.  And this year ‘Balance Me Beauty’ is turning 10 years old... Happy Anniversary! Here we catch up with Sian Jones, Balance Me Co-Creator...

Sian Jones, Balance Me Co-creator
How did you start out?

Balance Me was founded ten years ago in 2005 after Co-Creator sisters Rebecca and Clare left their respective corporate careers behind and retrained in the holistic field in the search for a better work-life balance. They had originally created an events business called “Balance Being” where they offered companies holistic treatments and catering at their client entertaining events. They were making products in their kitchen to use at these events when they were spotted by a high street retailer and British Vogue. Within a year I joined as the third partner, bringing my retail experience and aromatherapy passion to the brand, and Balance Me was born. 10 years on, we are determined to continue pushing the boundaries of natural beauty to create unique, high performance products that solve skin concerns without creating others.

What part of your job do you enjoy the most?

Creating natural products that give fantastic results and skin benefits. Whilst training to be an aromatherapist I developed a natural flare and passion for mixing essential oils and creating beautiful, aromatherapy inspired products that give benefits to both the body and mind. I love researching into new technologies and advances to natural beauty that allow us to push the boundaries, as we did with our new cutting-edge Collagen Boost range, which contains a unique natural peptide complex, that stimulates the skin’s ability to produce collagen(sadly women in their 40’s have 50% less collagen in their skin than women in their 20’s). It is always very rewarding when we hear stories from customers about how our products have boosted their skin confidence, it makes the years of hard work, love and passion that we put into each and every product come to life.

Christmas is coming!

OK, so it might be a little early, but before we know it Christmas would have been and gone. At Naturisimo there are already lots of beautiful gifts to help you get ahead with your Christmas shopping. Whether you are looking for an introduction to a range or a kit of full size treats, there is something for everyone, from stocking-fillers to splurges.

Balance Me have excelled themselves this year with their totally cute Balance Me Skin Quenching Body Collection (£16) and Balance Me Take Me Away With You Body Collection (£16). The Skin Quenching set contains best-selling luxury miniatures for the ultimate body skin care, whilst Take Me Away With You contains everything you would need for a trip away, for hair and body. Both would make great gifts- for someone else or for you!

If body care really is your thing, or you aren’t sure what set to get for someone else, take a look at Caudalie Shower Gel Trio (£15). A set so reasonably priced, and beautifully presented in a stunning box, you cannot go wrong with this. The 3 shower gels smell wonderful, and there is bound to be at least one Caudalie fragrance the receiver of this gift will fall in love with, if not all of them.

For a luxury gift, Neom Home Scenting Gift Set (£50) is perfect. A luxurious home scent collection to create a spa-style sanctuary at home, this one is a winner. Balance Me Winners!

Balance Me is a brand that I have used for the last couple of years. Originally enticed by the body wash- the fab Balance Me Super Moisturising Body Wash (£12.25) to be precise- I then tried numerous other products from the range and loved them all.

I was therefore thrilled to see that Balance Me have just been awarded an additional two awards in the newly revised Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible, taking their grand total of wins to four. Alongside the great winners Balance Me Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm (£20) and Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream (£14.50), two of my all time top body products won too.

The scrummy Balance Me Skin Brightening Exfoliating Body Polish (£15) is a winner, and I am not at all surprised. I am a HUGE fan of Spearmint and Peppermint scents and this Spearmint one is scrumptious. 100% natural and naturally rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A, B and E, this polish will leave you soft, glowing and minty fresh!

My favourite body oil, Balance Me Super Toning Body Oil (£20) also won, and deservedly so. Great smell? Check. Great texture? Check. Great results? Check.  A great price too for such a great product. Use after dry body brushing for best results and as an effective daily maintenance treatment.

The Balance Me team believes everyone deserves a little bit of luxury in their everyday lives. Give Balance Me a go and see if you think their products deliver. I am sure they won’t disappoint!

Balance Me Super Moisturising Wash Reviews

Review of Balance Me Super Moisturising Wash
by Shona B.
Packaging
The transparent flip top plastic bottle of the Balance Me Body Wash is quite squeezy so you can get the last drops out. The packaging is practical but a bit boring and not that stylish on your bathroom shelf. The white writing on a yellow background is very hard to read and it is not clear weather it’s a body wash or face wash. On further investigation I found that it was a body wash.
Application
This Balance Me product claims to nourish, cleanse and clear impurities whilst calming dry or irritated areas. I found it cleaned my skin well but left it a little dry and itchy and I had to use body oil after using the wash. The gel like texture of this wash is smooth and pleasant. It feels quite light but thick. You only need a little as it spreads well but it doesn’t foam very much. If you want foam I would suggest using a body puff. I also tried it as a hand wash but it didn’t foam enough to make me feel like my hands were clean after using it.
The smell was pleasant enough, mainly a sort of musky patchouli smell with a slight sweetness. It didn’t linger on my skin, which is probably a good thing because I think it would probably clash with a lot of fragrances. It was quite a relaxing smell so better for an evening bath rather than a morning shower. I found I liked it best after the gym to soothe and relax my muscles. The bath was easy to clean after use, which is always a bonus!
Ingredients
Almost 99% natural the Balance Me moisturising body wash is free from parabens, sulphates, DEA, PEGS, petroleum, mineral oil, artificial fragrances and colours, silicones and propylene glycol. It does contain shea butter, lavender, patchouli, geranium, bergamot and yarrow. The product carries the EcoCert stamp but the 5% organic ingredients do not carry the Soil Association mark.
Results
Although I’ll happily finish the bottle I have I don’t think I’ll buy it again. Personally I prefer zestier fragrances and I like lots of foam! I will however be trying other Balance Me products in the range as I was impressed with the ingredients and the quality of the wash (even if it doesn’t quite suit my dry skin).
Pros:
Easy to use and wash off
Fragrance doesn’t linger on the skin so won’t clash with any fragrances
Relaxing smell
Good ingredients
Cons:

Left my dry skin a little drier and itchy so that I had to use body oil afterwards
It wasn’t clear what the product was actually for
Doesn’t foam very much
Best For: A relaxing evening bath for people who have “normal” skin and like musky fragrances.
